Mono blocks are made from a single, uniform material with consistent properties throughout. They’re ideal for straightforward milling and applications where no layering or variation in material performance is needed.

Duplex blocks consist of two layers, each with distinct properties. Typically, a firm base is combined with a softer or more workable top layer, offering improved comfort and functionality in a single material.

Triplex blocks feature three layers, allowing for a gradual transition in material properties. This setup enhances performance by combining core strength, intermediate cushioning, and a durable or comfortable top layer.

Combi blocks are custom-made combinations of different materials, tailored to specific needs. They offer flexibility beyond standard formats and are available in small production runs starting from 20 blocks.
Customised Milling Material
Customization is central to AFT International. This is why you can always choose from various options. Combine different milling materials to achieve your desired end product. We do this from 20 blocks per composition. Any composition, shape, size or colour can be discussed with AFT International. Regardless of the milling machine type and template shape, AFT offers the highest flexibility and extensive choice for your CAD-CAM milling materials.

Shapes

A Full-form block is a solid, uniform block with no pre-contouring. It serves as a blank canvas for complete custom milling, offering maximum flexibility in shaping orthotics or insoles from scratch. This format is ideal for cases requiring full personalization or complex geometry.

An Ortho-form block is pre-contoured to match standard orthotic shapes, such as a basic footbed or insole curvature. It reduces milling time and material waste by starting with a semi-finished geometry, making it well-suited for common orthotic designs that follow typical anatomical forms.

A Combi-form block combines customized material layers with a defined shape, typically cut or prepared according to specific user requirements. It allows for tailored combinations of material properties (e.g. firmness, flexibility, color) while incorporating the shape advantages of pre-formed blocks.
